Duquesne welcomes back an old friend as "The Duke", the University's athletics mascot will return to the Palumbo hardwood for Saturday's 4:00 pm match-up with visiting Richmond.
"The Duke" returns from his 10-year hiatus to his duchy in Menneville, France where he had to revisit his roots and oversee his domain.
"After serving as the University mascot for many, many years, I became a little homesick and asked my good friend Amroise DueBear, son of Philippe, to fill in for me here at Duquesne while I tended to matters in my homeland," he said.
"I am now well rested and after receiving a much needed facelift, am ready to fulfill my lifelong duties of wreaking havoc on all Duquesne opponents and shall begin my quest with the dreaded Spiders of Richmond. Please join me in making my new duchy called Palumbo, a haven of anxiety and trepidation for those who visit."
