WASHINGTON, D.C. — Duquesne freshman Rose Kuchera has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Kuchera, a Canonsburg, Pa., native, broke her own program record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.52 meters (41 feet, 1 inch) at Bucknell, surpassing her previous best of 12.51 meters (41-0.5) set just one week earlier. She earned second place in both the triple jump and long jump at the Bison Outdoor Classic, with a long jump of 5.64 meters (18 feet, 6 inches).

The rookie currently ranks second in the A-10 in the triple jump and leads all conference freshmen. In the long jump, she sits fourth overall and second among first-year competitors. At the NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional level, Kuchera is sixth in the triple jump and ranks first among rookies.

With her latest honor, Kuchera becomes just the second Duke to earn multiple Rookie of the Week awards in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, joining Shea McMillan — who also had two in each. Her four total honors tie McMillan (2001) and Erica Moody (2005) for the most in a year.
