PITTSBURGH – Robyn Hunt, a junior on Duquesne University's triathlon team, continues to excel both academically and athletically, earning the prestigious Beard Undergraduate Scholarship for the second consecutive year.

The Beard Scholarship, founded by two-time Duquesne graduate Dr. Eugene P. Beard, has transformed the lives of students for over two decades. With a focus on ethics and sustainability in the business world, the scholarship encourages students to expand their knowledge in these areas. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and submit an essay reflecting on how personal and professional ethics have influenced their lives.

"Earning the Beard Scholarship for the second time means so much to me," Hunt said. "It has helped me so much in getting ready for life after college, and it reminds me that living out strong ethics, being in your personal life or in business, truly matters. Dr. Eugene Beard has done so much for the business school in providing opportunities for all of the students, and I am incredibly grateful for his generosity to the school and how much it has been able to help me."

Hunt, a finance major, is an active leader within the Duquesne community. In addition to excelling in the classroom as a back-to-back CTCA Scholar All-American with a 4.0 GPA last spring, she has served as a resident assistant and as a member of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC). On the course, Hunt led the team at the program's first national championships in 2023 and has been a consistent scorer in every race. The Spring Lake, Mich. native, has ranked among the top 100 individual NCAA triathletes all three years, reaching as high as 66th in 2023 and placing 92nd in this year's midseason rankings.

In 2023, she also received the Duquesne Athletics Leadership Award, which honors a student-athlete who exemplifies leadership principles and is an outstanding representative of DU Athletics, particularly through SAAC involvement.

"Robyn's work ethic, character, and leadership continue to impress me," said head coach Joella Baker. "Earning the Beard Scholarship two years in a row highlights the dedication she brings to everything she does, both in the classroom and on the course. She sets a standard for her teammates and for the entire Duquesne community. I am incredibly proud to see her recognized again for this prestigious honor."
