Baker Honored With CTCA Outstanding Service Award

PITTSBURGH – Duquesne University head triathlon coach Joella Baker has been honored with the College Triathlon Coaches Association's (CTCA) 2024 Outstanding Service Award.

"I am honored to be recognized by my peers at the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association," said Baker. "Serving this group of coaches and athletes is a blessing. It is humbling to be recognized among so many amazing coaches who dedicate countless hours to our sport."

Baker, the founding coach of the Duquesne University triathlon program, is in her second season leading the Dukes. The CTCA Outstanding Service Award recognizes exceptional dedication to the sport and a commitment to giving back while supporting the triathlon community.

In addition to leading the Dukes to success in competition, Baker has been instrumental in promoting the sport both locally and nationally. She serves as the race director for the annual Duquesne Invitational / Beaver County Tri Cup, which hosted five different races and over 100 athletes this year.

Duquesne earned its first team and individual title in program history this season at the Prairie State Cup, while consistently ranking among the top teams in the national polls. The Dukes finished ninth in the Division I standings at the 2024 national championship.
