Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University Department of Athletics established a school record in the NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) Wednesday, as 92 percent of student-athletes who enrolled as freshman in 2017 graduated within a six-year window. It marks the seventh consecutive year the Dukes have posted a GSR of 90 or higher, and the score of 92 for Duquesne breaks the old record of 91 that was originally established in 2019 and matched last year.
A total of 10 programs for Duquesne earned a perfect 100 score in the GSR rankings. Included are men's and women's basketball, women's bowling, men's cross country/track & field, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis and women's volleyball. The swimming & diving program for the Dukes has notched a perfect score for 14 consecutive years, while it also marks the seventh consecutive 100 for lacrosse.

The NCAA has tracked GSR for more than two decades, and student-athletes have surpassed the original benchmark goal of 80 percent, with long-term graduation rate increases being observed year after year from an overall 74 percent in 2002 to 91 percent in 2024, which matches an NCAA record set a year ago.
Since the implementation of the GSR, NCAA Division I members have adopted impactful academic reforms and initiatives, including modifications of initial-eligibility requirements and progress-toward-degree standards, as well as application of the Academic Performance Program (APR). Those reforms have helped pave the way for exponential graduation success.
A total of 12 programs for Duquesne earned a GSR at or above the NCAA Division I national average of 91 percent. In addition to the perfect scores for 10 programs, women's cross country/track & field posted a 97 percent GSR, while women's soccer finished at 96 percent.
