BUFFALO, N.Y. – Day three of the Buffalo Diving Invite proved to be graduate student
Amy Read's best day yet, as she bested all other competitors to finish first in the women's platform finals. Read also took home first-place in the platform prelims. She was the only Duquesne diver to take part in the event.
In the prelims, Read had a total score 247.25, nearly a full 14 points higher than the second-place finisher. In the finals, Read's overall score of 269.00 pushed her over 32 points higher than the rest of the competitors, capping off a dominating performance.
In total, Read placed fifth in the one-meter finals on Friday, seventh in the 3m finals and first in the platform finals. In the prelims for each event, she placed second in the 1m, second in the 3m and first in the platform.
Divers from Duquesne, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ohio and St. Bonaventure all competed over the weekend. Competition will continue on Sunday.
DAY TWO
On day two of the Buffalo Diving Invitational, Read once again placed well, and
Sidney O'Donnell joined her in the 3m finals.
In the prelims on Saturday, Read had the second-best score of 309.35, more than high enough to qualify her for the finals. O'Donnell finished in eight-place with a score 260.15. Also competing in the 3m prelims were
Ashley Felitsky (25th),
Kendall Nigh (29th),
Julia Doolittle (35th) and
Elizabeth Crow (39th).
In the 3m finals, both Read and O'Donnell were able to finish in the top-nine. Read placed seventh with a score of 281.80 and O'Donnell finished ninth with a score of 255.50.
DAY ONE
Read finished in fifth-place at the Buffalo Diving Invite Friday, scoring a 270.85 in the 1m dive finals. She placed second in the prelims with a score of 282.65.
O'Donnell also placed well in the prelims, finishing 13th with a score of 236.50. Felitsky rounded out Duquesne's top-three finishers in the 1m prelims, finishing 23rd.
