PITTSBURGH - Center
Tre Williams, who was injured late in the first half of Duquesne's game vs. Davidson on Wednesday, will undergo arthroscopic meniscus surgery on his right knee early next week.
He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
"I feel bad for Tre, because he's worked so hard all year long," said head coach
Keith Dambrot. "Our our primary concern Tre's health. He is receiving excellent medical care and I'm confident he'll be able to come back at 100 percent."
Williams, the only Duquesne player to start all 26 games this season, ranks second on the team in scoring (10.8 ppg.) and rebounding (5.7 rpg.). He leads the team, and ranks 38th nationally, in blocked shots per game at 2.08.
The first-year Indiana State transfer was averaging a team-high 31.4 minutes per game.
Duquesne (6-20, 1-13) plays at Rhode Island (13-13, 4-10) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally by NBC Sports on the USA Network.
