PITTSBURGH â€" Duquesne University head men's basketball coach Keith Dambrot announced today that Sincere Carry (Solon, Ohio/Solon), a first team All-Ohio guard, has signed a athletic scholarship agreement and will be part of the men's basketball program this fall.
The 6-1 Carry, who was one of 10 finalists for Mr. Ohio Basketball, averaged 23.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game in leading Solon High School to a record 27 wins (27-2) and first Ohio High School Athletics Association Division I state championship game appearance in school history.
"Sincere is a high-level player, who really showed his ability in the state tournament," said Dambrot. "He is a team-oriented player who also showed defensive toughness. When we recruit a guard, we look for a high skill level and solid basketball I.Q., in addition to the ability to dribble, pass and shoot. Sincere checked all of the boxes.
"We feel that with the guards we have returning - along with Brandon Wade and Sincere coming in with this recruiting class - that we've improved our skill level in all areas."
Carry, a four-year starter, averaged 28.0 points and 7.5 assists in state Division I final four games vs. Pickerington Central (29 points, 11 assists, 5 steals) and Archbishop Moeller (27 points). A 1,000-point career scorer, Carry was named Cleveland.com 2018 Player of the Year.
