Duquesne University swimmers senior Melissa Johnson (Phoenix, Ariz./Shadow Mountain/ U. Arizona) and freshman Edward LeBlanc (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) have been named Atlantic 10 Performers of the Week for the week ending Feb. 3. LeBlanc was also tabbed the A-10's Rookie of the Week.
Johnson captured two first place finishes and a second place showing in a four-team meet at Pitt on Saturday. She broke her own school record in winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.72 and won the 200 IM by over three seconds with a time of 2:07.96. She also placed second in the 100 free in 52.06.
LeBlanc won three races and set two school records at Pitt. He won the 200 IM, breaking his own school record with a time of 1:53.00 and won the 200 free with a school record time of 1:40.07. He was also victorious in the 500-yard freestyle with a Duquesne season-best time of 4:37.81.
The Red and Blue have wrapped up the regular season and have begun preparations for the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships to be held Feb. 20-23 in Buffalo, N.Y.
