Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Duquesne rowing team participated in the Head of the Fish this past weekend.
The varsity four team of Shannon Corbey (cox), Casey Martin, Jess Modrall, Andrea Komanecky, and Dana Biggs began the day by placing 17th of 27 crews crossing with a time of 15:07.61.
The varsity eight line-up of Kristy Pietrone (cox) Chelsea Breitenbach, Sara Colley, Kristina Powell, Taylor Shannon, Margaret Brophy, Mary Deet, Joanna Rodriguez, and Kelly Beck finished in seventh place in a field on 18 crews with a time of 13 minutes flat. The V8 was just 23 second behind Atlantic 10 Conference rival Massachusetts who finished in 12:37.
The JV eight (Laura Cherchuck (cox), Brittany Leasure, Hannah Davis, Miriam Bovich, Dee Welch, Aly Enslen, Katherine Gorcyca, Katie Hodnik, and Maggie Holtz) also raced and placed seventh in a field of 14 crews. Their strong showing of a time of 13:34 was just 30 seconds behind third place UMass.
The Dukes will be taking to the waters in Farifax, Va. For the Head of the Occoquan on Nov. 1.
