Over 120 Duquesne Dukes fans turned out for the Department of Athletics 1st Annual Steak Fry held on August 7 at Avonworth Community Pavilion.

DU fans enjoyed grilled steaks and beverages while mingling with basketball head coaches Suzie McConnell-Serio, Ron Everhart and football coach Jerry Schmitt as well as members of both the men's and women's basketball staffs.

"This was a great way to kick off the 2007-08 athletics season," said director of athletics Greg Amodio. "We wanted to reach out and give our fans a chance to interact with our coaching staffs in a relaxed atmosphere. We received a great response and look forward to hosting future events like this one."

Amodio as well as Schmitt, McConnell-Serio and Everhart all addressed the crowd and fielded questions.

"It was great to see fans of the Dukes come together," said Everhart. "Good food and good people, you can't beat that combination. I speak for coach McConnell-Serio and coach Schmitt in personally thanking everyone for showing their support."
