Kresho Named Asst. Director of Student Services

Aug. 3, 2006

Duquesne University Director of Athletics Greg Amodio announced today that former rowing coach Katie Kresho (formerly Kirsten) has been named assistant director of student services.

Kresho, a 2001 graduate of Robert Morris, joined the DU department of athletics as the university's first full-time head rowing coach in June 2002.

"Katie, who has done a great job running the rowing program, expressed an interest in getting involved on the administrative end of things," said Amodio. "She is an ideal fit for our student services department."

Kresho will be responsible for assisting student-athletes in making timely and satisfactory progress toward their degrees among other duties in her new position.

"I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to continue here at Duquesne," said Kresho. "I've always enjoyed working with student-athletes and as a member of the student services department I will be able to continue doing so."

The 27-year-old Kresho began her career in athletics as the assistant rowing coach/head novice coach for the Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's programs prior to taking the head coaching position at DU.

As a collegian, Kresho was a four-year letterman at coxswain for Robert Morris. At RMU she was part of two Dad Vail National Regatta championships and three Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Rowing Championships. She also represented the United States at the Henley Women's Regatta in England. Kresho also was a member of the Colonials' soccer team.

Kresho, a native of Macomb, Michigan, graduated from Robert Morris in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in sports marketing.

Katie and her husband Nick, who were married on June 26, reside in the North Hills.
