The Duquesne University women's cross country squad placed 36th in the highly competitive "Blue" race at the NCAA Pre-Nationals this morning hosted by Indiana State. Amy Ruffolo paced the Dukes taking 175th in the field of 245 runners.
Duquesne entered the meet ranked 10th in the Mid-Atlantic region and faced 10 squads ranked in the top 30 nationally including No. 1 Standord and No. 7 Princeton.
The Dukes' Ruffolo ran the 6,000 meter course in 22:23.4 to lead the Red & Blue. Taking second for the squad was Emily Beahan at 198 followed by Sara Cimino (225); Katie Kelly (229) and Kate Szymaszek (233).
Duquesne had three runners in the open race with Carly Brickett taking 196, older sister Jessica Brickett crossing at 198 and Kaitlin Yasko taking 202 in the field of 226.
Duquesne is off until October 28th when they will host the Atlantic 10 Conference championships at Pittsburgh's Schenley Park.
