Washington, D.C. – Duquesne senior midfielder
Chelsea Evans has been named the
Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after a standout defensive performance in the Dukes' Senior Day win over La Salle.
Evans totaled five caused turnovers and three ground balls in the
victory over La Salle, and added two caused turnovers and two ground balls in a midweek non-conference matchup at Youngstown State to finish the week with seven caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Her five caused turnovers on Senior Day were the most by any Atlantic 10 player last week and tied for the second-most in a single game this season.
For the year, Evans leads Duquesne with 27 caused turnovers (2.08 per game), ranking second in the Atlantic 10, while also ranking second on the team with 29 ground balls (2.23 per game), which stands seventh in the conference.
The Marlton, N.J. native also contributed offensively with two goals on Senior Day and has recorded multiple goals in five of the last six games, totaling 25 goals on the season.
